Coastal areas are bracing for potentially hazardous conditions, with "battering surf and some coastal flooding" expected to begin along portions of the coast by late Wednesday night.
Maritime operations are also facing disruptions due to the incoming storm. A Small Craft Advisory remains in place until Tuesday evening. At the same time, onshore winds and building seas are forecasted to escalate from hazardous to very hazardous during the day on Wednesday with the approach of TC Milton, according to the marine section of the weather discussion. Vessels are warned of tropical storms and potential hurricane conditions by Wednesday night as Milton closes in on the central peninsula.
Hydrology concerns are also on the rise. The Saint Johns River near Astor is expected to reach Moderate Flood Stage sometime on Wednesday due to the anticipated heavy rainfall. According to the same forecast discussion, additional points along the river may see rises later this week.
