The county is making a significant move to tackle its affordable housing crisis with the pre-leasing event for Falcon Trace II. According to the Osceola County Government, Celebrated by the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, the initiative marks the introduction of 354 new affordable housing units tailored for individuals and families earning at or below 60% of the area median income.

The project was catalyzed by a generous land donation complemented by a $21.75 million loan from the County's coffers and the Mobility Fee program. According to the County's estimations, every dollar spent is expected to quintuple through federal, state, and private contributions, pumping over $220 million into the local economy and creating more than 1,500 jobs. These units are dedicated to remaining affordably within reach for at least five decades.

County Commission Chair Cheryl Grieb underscored the dedication and labor invested into the project by Osceola County's various departments. "Projects like this take a lot of work from County staff, and I’d like to thank the teams at Osceola County Housing and Community Services, as well as our Community Development Department, for their efforts," Grieb said, per county's press release, spotlighting Birdsong Housing Partners and Parramore Construction Company, Inc. for their vital contributions to the cause.

Tangible to Osceola County citizens seeking affordable living options, Falcon Trace II boasts 16 residential buildings and a clubhouse located conveniently from the Poinciana SunRail Station. The community aims to cater to varied residential needs with a mix of one- to three-bedroom apartments outfitted with modern amenities like Energy Star appliances and granite countertops.

The project goes beyond just the apartments. Falcon Trace II includes many indoor and outdoor facilities, like dog parks and computer labs, to create a great living experience. It’s also close to schools like Mater Palms Academy and Knights Point K-8, making it a part of the community.
