An Osceola County teenager has been arrested after a suspected school shooting threat was reported to local authorities. The 17-year-old, a student at Poinciana High School, was found in possession of a stolen gun following an investigation prompted by an anonymous tip. According to the ClickOrlando report, the sheriff's office was alerted through FortifyFL, a safety app designed to report concerns about school security.
Upon receiving the tip, a school resource officer visited the student's residence and conducted a safety search of the home after a conversation with the teen and his mother. During the search, a firearm was discovered inside a teenager's backpack used for school. "When deputies confronted the juvenile about the incident, he became very nervous and briefly fainted," the Osceola County Sheriff's Office stated, as detailed by ClickOrlando. A further search of the gun's serial number confirmed it was reported as stolen. The teen was taken into custody and is now facing multiple charges, including grand theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a minor.
In addition to the gun, authorities found a bottle of liquor, an extended magazine, and signs of drug use. The WESH report mentioned that deputies also found cannabis and paraphernalia in the juvenile's room, along with additional bullets, while going through his dresser drawer. Further charges relating to drugs were applied to the teen's arrest.
