
A man has been arrested and charged with indecent exposure near an Oxnard school, according to local authorities. The incident took place on October 22, 2024, along the 800 block of West Hill Street near the Dr. Manuel M. Lopez Academy of Arts and Sciences, as students were heading home. The Oxnard Police Department indicated in a news release that a minor was approached by the suspect who then proceeded to make inappropriate remarks and expose himself.
Officers were dispatched following the report with the School Resource Officers and the Family Protection Unit jumped on the case, combining their efforts which ultimately led to the identification and arrest of the suspect, 37-year-old Romeo Cruz-Olivera. Oxnard Police Department noted the collaboration between units was crucial for the quick resolution of the case, following a diligent inquiry into the considerable amount of information provided by witnesses and members involved.
Cruz-Olivera is now facing charges related to the disturbing event that took place in the vicinity of the school.
