Palm Beach County residents can expect aircraft noise tomorrow, marking the start of mosquito control efforts. Aerial spraying is scheduled to begin about half an hour after sundown tomorrow, weather permitting. The Palm Beach County Division of Mosquito Control is responding to the rising mosquito population and the associated disease risks. Residents from Jupiter to Boca Raton, including the Pahokee and Belle Glade areas, should be aware of these operations, as detailed on the Palm Beach County government's website.
To quickly reduce the pest population, about 265,000 acres will be treated, covering areas west of Military Trail. This extensive effort will target large residential areas, extending from West Palm Beach south to Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. If weather conditions force cancellations, the spraying will be rescheduled for the next evening to ensure it is successfully completed.
Residents worried about the spraying can access real-time updates through the AIR SPRAY HOTLINE at 561-642-8775. The county assures that this hotline will provide the latest information on operational status. Residents are encouraged to use EPA-registered insect repellent and wear long pants and sleeves during outdoor activities at night. They should also check for and eliminate any sources of standing water where mosquitoes might breed.
