Palm Beach County Youth Services Department and the Birth to 22 United for Brighter Futures alliance have teamed up with the Alyssa Sangeeta Jacobson Foundation to provide two new annual scholarships, specifically targeting the Future Leaders United for Change youth council members. Announced today, the foundation pays tribute to Alyssa Sangeeta Jacobson whose life was a testament to self-sufficiency and the pursuit of passion, as detailed in a statement obtained by Palm Beach County Government's Newsroom.
Since 2020, the Alyssa Sangeeta Jacobson Scholarship has supported 11 young individuals, each awarded $2,000 annually for up to four years. With the formal establishment of the Foundation, two members of the youth council will now continue to be identified every year to receive scholarships aimed to further their postsecondary, graduate, or vocational education goals. According to the source, the foundation seeks to extend Alyssa's legacy by dedicating funds to those in need of extra assistance to achieve their education dreams.
The Birth to 22 Future Leaders United for Change was conceived as Palm Beach County's initiative to ensure that the voices of young community members were distinctly heard in the county's efforts to assess their needs. The youth council is a platform for young leaders to influence the development and implementation of programs and services. Previously under the Friends of Youth Services & Palm Beach County, Inc., the scholarship will now be administered by the newly-formed Alyssa Sangeeta Jacobson Foundation.
To honor Alyssa's commitment to education, recognized through her undergraduate and graduate achievements, her birthdate now marks the founding of an entity dedicated to empowering others she hoped to see thrive. As per the release, the Foundation celebrates her determination and kind-spirited manner.
