The fragile peace of our streets was broken again as Qureem Overton, leader of a drug trafficking ring in Pennsylvania, was convicted last Friday. After just three hours of jury deliberation, Overton was found guilty of conspiracy and distributing fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
From 2017 to 2020, Overton ran a drug operation stretching from Philadelphia to Butler. During a five-day jury trial, his past came to light, revealing previous convictions for drug trafficking, robbery, and aggravated assault, all of which led to time in state prison. United States District Judge Robert J. Colville oversaw the trial.
Overton's sentencing is penned for February 25, 2025. The outcome of justice is still uncertain, as the Pennsylvania State Police, FBI, and Butler County DA's Drug Task Force have uncovered and dismantled the intricate drug network, bringing the investigation to its legal conclusion.
