A Perris high school coach has been arrested over allegations of inappropriate conduct with students, authorities said Thursday. According to a statement released by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jesse Gonsalez Lopez, a 27-year-old coach, stands accused of engagement in unlawful acts with minors.
The Sheriff's Office indicated that, after allegations surfaced, the school resource deputy stationed at the high school on Nuevo Road, promptly initiated an investigation. Lopez was subsequently placed on administrative leave during the probe. In their ongoing pursuit of justice, the Special Victims Unit of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office assumed the investigation, which has culminated in charges of child annoyance, and sexual battery, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor against the educator.
Lopez was apprehended by authorities on October 10, in the city of Perris, and is currently being held at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the matter is still under active investigation and that no further details regarding the specifics of the complaints or the number of those potentially affected have been disclosed.
