The Office of Public Safety in Philadelphia has recently opened applications for its Anti-Violence Community Partnership Grants, committing an unprecedented $30 million to combat violence in the city. As reported by the City of Philadelphia's official website, the initiative, which began on Tuesday last week, offers three types of grants with varying financial support to eligible organizations engaged in violence prevention and intervention efforts.
The Targeted Community Investment Grant (TCIG), available for groups aiming to bolster public safety and foster self-development, provides awards ranging from $1,500 to $50,000. Meanwhile, the Community Capacity Grant (CCG) recognizes and further aids the expansion of seasoned TCIG beneficiaries with an award range between $50,000 and $100,000. A newer tier, the CCG, is available by invitation only. On the higher end, the Community Expansion Grant (CEG) assists organizations working with trauma-informed healing, offering substantial funding from $100,000 up to $1,000,000.
These grants are part of Mayor Cherelle L. Parker’s strategy to invest in grassroots solutions to violence. “The City’s Anti-Violence Community Partnership Grants are a testament to what can be achieved when the City invests in our communities and the people working on the ground to make our city safe,” Mayor Parker stated. She emphasized her commitment to making these grants a regular part of the city's budget and pledged to work with the Public Safety team to ensure the program's effectiveness, as per the City of Philadelphia's release.
Chief Public Safety Director Adam Geer expressed optimism for the upcoming beneficiaries, highlighting a strong support and accountability system for grantees. He emphasized the careful management of the funds. Applicants are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming virtual information sessions to learn about the application process and enhance their chances of securing a grant.
