People who can stay with friends, family, or at hotels outside evacuation zones are encouraged to do so, as this helps reduce crowding in communal shelters and allows better care for those without alternatives.
As part of emergency measures, PSTA buses and trolleys will stop regular service at 2 p.m. and will offer free rides to mainland shelters until 7 p.m. This is to help people evacuate safely due to the approaching storm. Pet owners can also use this service—cats and small dogs must be in crates, and large dogs need a muzzle and leash.
