Pittsburgh Police are on the case after gunfire erupted in Perry South this morning. According to the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Blotter, officers were called to the scene near Perrysville Avenue and North Charles Street yesterday. They found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound on the 2600 block of Maple Avenue, with the injury strikingly located on his buttock.
The injured man was reportedly conscious and able to communicate clearly with police and EMS responders. Transported in stable condition to a local hospital, the victim seemed to be outside of immediate danger. Detectives tracking the case linked a white Nissan to the shooting, which led them several streets over to the 200 block of East Ohio Street. There, an adult male was taken into police custody and transported for questioning, hinting at a web of circumstances yet to be untangled.
The Mobile Crime Unit has responded to gather evidence, but authorities say there's no ongoing threat to the public. With the investigation still underway, details about the incident remain unclear, and police haven't released the names or motives behind the shooting.
No additional information about the victim's identity or condition has been shared yet.
