Yesterday morning, in Pittsburgh's Homewood West neighborhood, a fatal incident unfolded, resulting in the death of an adult female. Police were dispatched to the 6800 block of Lyric Street just before 5 a.m. upon reports of a stabbing, according to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the victim inside a residence with a life-threatening stab wound to the chest. Despite attempts to provide aid, the woman was pronounced deceased at the location. Subsequent investigations by the Violent Crime Unit detectives prompted the arrest of 21-year-old Maurissa Plummer, who now faces charges of Criminal Homicide and was transported to the Allegheny County Jail (ACJ).
The circumstances leading up to the stabbing are still under investigation, with early indicators suggesting a possible altercation might have occurred before the attack. Detectives continue to process the evidence collected by the Mobile Crime Unit, including the review of the surrounding area's video footage.
