Last Saturday, members of the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department (PCSO) took their support for the Special Olympics Massachusetts to new heights, quite literally, by rappelling down a building in an event dubbed “Over The Edge.” The social media page of the PCSO praised the courage of their two participating teams, "Bob’s Belayers" and "Emily’s Edgers," whose representatives, Pat Lee, Jim Creed, Bob McGuiness, and Dan Callahan, rappelled for the noble cause.
The PCSO post highlighted the event’s success, stating, "Proud of our two teams who bravely took the plunge Saturday, and went “Over The Edge!" in support of Special Olympics Massachusetts.” The undertakings of these teams were not solely about the thrill but also the philanthropy; raising funds that will assist the Special Olympics in continuing their impactful work for athletes with intellectual disabilities, they fostered a spirit of community and selflessness that speaks volumes to the character and commitment of those behind the badge.
This isn’t the first instance of the PCSO staff going beyond their call of duty; their consistent community service has marked them as an organization dedicated to the welfare of others. The act of rappelling down a building is emblematic of their willingness to face fears and challenges, just as athletes of the Special Olympics confront their own daily. By doing so, they not only raised funds but also raised awareness for an organization that champions inclusivity and determination, echoing the organization's mission in their actions.
The PCSO expressed gratitude for the donations that made the event a success, extending a 'Congratulations and Thank You' to the teams and all those who contributed.
