On a chilly morning in Milwaukee, a strong police presence has locked down the area around Fond du Lac and North Avenues, focusing on the former Milwaukee Mall. TMJ4 reports that police tape now stretches across seven blocks, including the mall building, which sits in shadows occasionally illuminated by law enforcement flashlights.
When officers arrived at the 2100 block of W. North Avenue, a suspect fired at them, prompting an officer to return fire. Fortunately, no officers were injured, and their shots did not hit the suspect. Officers later searched the building and arrested a 37-year-old man, as reported by WISN 12 News.
Details are limited, the former Sears store is a center of unease, and residents are looking to WISN 12 News, TMJ4, and WTMJ for updates. Reporters are on standby for any news as the community seeks a resolution and answers about what turned an ordinary night into yet another police standoff.
