Lanoris Parker, 50, was arrested in Polk County, Florida, for multiple charges related to animal cruelty. Deputies found two dead dogs and several others in poor condition at a rental property in Davenport, leading to an investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, as reported by FOX 13.
According to ClickOrlando, the property owner became concerned after seeing visibly unhealthy dogs in cages and contacted authorities, leading to an investigation. At Parker's Poinciana home, six of seven additional dogs were confined to crates without air circulation, food, or water, resulting in a second investigation and the seizure of the dogs. The Polk County Sheriff's Office reported that none of the kennels had food, most lacked water, and three of the nine surviving dogs later died from their injuries.
Investigators didn't stop at the immediate animal cruelty; they noted significant environmental concerns at the Davenport site. There existed well over 400 pounds and 500 cubic feet of solid waste, creating a panorama of neglect that included metal waste and an unregulated burn pile, hinting at disregard for not only life but also the land that sustains it. "The horrific abuse and neglect that these animals suffered is too awful for words and the photos don't even adequately describe how much pain these dogs were in, not to mention the conditions, sights, and smells that our detectives were exposed to," Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. "Lanoris Parker is being held accountable for these crimes, and we will do everything in our power to ensure he never owns animals again," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told WTSP.
As of now, Lanoris Parker remains detained, confronted with 15 felony counts of animal cruelty, among other charges. The Polk County Jail holds him as the case against him is being prepared, according to the authorities.
