A house fire on Goodrich Street in Port St. Lucie has left a family devastated, facing the loss of their home and pets. According to CBS12, the fire destroyed a ranch-style house early Friday morning, making it uninhabitable despite firefighters' efforts. The woman and her daughter were physically unharmed, but three cats died, and one is still missing.
The blaze, originating from an overloaded electrical socket on the back patio, was reported by both CBS12 and in a separate account from WPTV. Julie Miller, the homeowner, described the harrowing experience, "I see my life gone," as recounted in a statement to WPTV. She managed to rescue her daughter and their dog, Mac Miller, who suffered burns but survived the ordeal.
“People, I haven't seen in three years have been driving by dropping off drinks and helping us salvage whatever we have left, and helping us," Miller recounted, a statement. A GoFundMe page has been established to help the Millers navigate through this tumultuous period, as noted by WPTV.
Miller's gratitude, despite her losses, was palpable, "I'm so grateful," she said, recognizing the quick action that saved her family. “But I know God saved me and my daughter, and that's what I’m grateful for,” she told WPTV.
