In a chilling development from St. Lucie County, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in Port St. Lucie as part of a child pornography investigation. The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of an individual, Andrei Gorelov, on multiple counts of child pornography possession. According to WPTV, the arrest occurred on Thursday at a home located on the 680 block of Southwest Sarazen Avenue.
Sheriff Keith Pearson issued a statement regarding the arrest and the search, "Earlier today, Sheriff’s Office detectives assigned to our ICAC Unit executed a search warrant at the 600 block of SW Sarzen Ave. in Port St. Lucie, FL. Detectives arrested Andrei Gorelov for 100 counts of possession of child pornography and recovered over 150 electronic devices. Our team of dedicated detectives will continue to target these sick individuals who have no place in our community. As for Gorelov, he’s exactly where he belongs, behind bars at the county jail.” This statement was echoed in a Facebook post by the Sheriff's Office.
The investigation continues to be active as investigators sift through the evidence gathered. At the scene, WPTV reporters witnessed law enforcement officers removing multiple computer hard drives from Gorelov's home. Outside the home, a man, presumed to be Gorelov, was observed handcuffed and seated shirtless.
Community response has been one of shock and concern, particularly from local residents who described the neighborhood as quiet and family-friendly. A WPTV interview reveals a resident, Peter Scott, expressing his astonishment: "It does raise some radars and makes me wonder what's going on around here in this day in age," Scott said. "If something like that is happening, I hope justice is served," he added, voicing the hopes of a community shaken by the disturbing allegations.
No further details on the ongoing investigation have been released, but the Sheriff's Office appears committed to addressing and eradicating such exploitive crimes from the community. Residents and authorities alike await the progress of this case as it moves through the legal system.
