The Portland Police Bureau's concerted effort to rein in crime throughout the city found its way to the East Precinct, where officers from the Central, North, and East Neighborhood Response Teams came together in an alignment of strategy and resources. According to the Portland Police statement on their website, the operations took place on September 26, targeting the areas along the multi-use path by I-205, from Southeast Holgate Boulevard to Southeast Flavel Street, in tandem with the City’s Street Services Coordination Center.

The mission saw the police making contact with more than 36 individuals involved in illegal camping, handing out trespass notifications, and zeroing in on abandoned properties which included a location at Southeast 103rd and Foster Road.

Encounters with law enforcement during this special mission yielded the following outcome: 36 subject contacts, 12 custodies—though none were deemed suitable for deflection—7 felony warrants and 18 misdemeanor warrants being served, along with engaging in a single vehicle elude and performing a vehicle stop; these figures were neatly categorized in the Bureau's release.

The promise of continued missions comes as a commitment from the Portland Police Bureau, assuring that resources and coordinated effort will persist across the Central, North, and East precincts; hence the fight against crime and quality-of-life issues will remain relentless in Portland’s diverse and vibrant neighborhoods says the Bureau in its continuous effort to foster a sense of safety and orderliness.
