Phoenix-based specialty coffee roaster and retailer, Press Coffee, has made significant strides in the coffee industry with the recent acquisition of a coffee farm in Panama. Announcing this international move, co-owner Jason Kyle expressed, "We're super excited to make it one of our house coffees," he told ABC15. The farm occupies 70 hectares amid the forested highlands of the Volcan Valley, an area celebrated for its unique coffee-producing conditions.
In their commitment to delivering high-quality specialty coffee, this acquisition enables Press Coffee to manage their product from the farm to the cup directly. According to a statement obtained by AZ Big Media, the Volcan Valley's distinct terroir and the high altitude offer ideal conditions for cultivating distinctive coffee beans. The farm stretches across a plain ranging from 1,800 to 2,300 meters above sea level, benefiting from fertile volcanic soil.
Having been established in 2008, Press Coffee has always prioritized the quality and sustainability of their products. "This coffee estate marks a significant milestone for our company," Jason Kyle explained in a discussion with AZ Big Media. The acquisition is set to enrich the company's offering and deepen their connection to the coffee’s origin. With this, Press intends to introduce new, richer flavors to their customers in the Phoenix metro area.
The new estate's beans will be available across Press Coffee's 13 Phoenix-area cafes and the six they operate inside Sprouts Farmers Markets. Customers can look forward to experiencing the unique flavor profiles, which, like fine wine, will be influenced by natural seasonal changes. These will be offered online quarterly, as noted by the exclusive Allocation coffee program.
In addition to serving coffee directly from the new Panama farm at its café bars, Press Coffee also plans to sell bags of whole beans for home brewing. Furthermore, fans of the brand can subscribe to a monthly coffee service, providing another avenue to enjoy their products regularly. Details about the offerings and subscription services can be found on the Press Coffee website.
