Environmental enthusiasts in Queen Creek can mark their calendars for the QC Recycles drive-through drop-off event at the town's Field Operations Facility on Nov. 16, from 7 to 11 a.m. This free event is designed to encourage responsible disposal and recycling habits among residents, allowing locals to dispose of a variety of items in an eco-friendly way, as noted on Queen Creek's official website.
Registration is now open for Queen Creek residents seeking a streamlined experience at the event, with a Fast Pass available for those who sign up by Nov. 11. Fast Pass holders will receive their ticket via email 48 hours before the event, facilitating a quicker drop-off process, as noted in the town's announcement.
On the day of the event, participants can bring a variety of items, including outdated appliances, unwanted electronics, and textiles in collaboration with Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona. Acceptable items include bulky appliances, computer gadgets, a mix of metals, up to four tires (without rims), and water-based paints in their original containers. Participants can also shred up to five boxes of paper for privacy, and the Queen Creek Police Department will collect prescription drugs, although liquids, needles, and inhalers are not permitted.
It’s important to know not just what you can bring, but also what you cannot. Some items are excluded from the event, including air conditioners, batteries, mattresses, and anything leaking hazardous waste, as these require special handling. For everyday recyclables like aluminum cans and plastic bottles, your curbside cart is the best option. Alternatively, the QC Recycling Center on Ellsworth Road is available for those larger items, like that stack of cardboard boxes accumulating in your garage.
For more details on what items are accepted and how to participate, contact Queen Creek's Communications & Marketing Manager, Constance Halonen-Wilson, at 480-358-3195 or [email protected].
