Broken Arrow Police Department's new Real Time Information Center has been given a significant financial boost, thanks to a substantial grant from QuikTrip. The leading convenience and gasoline retailer has earmarked $351,000 for the project, which aims to make Broken Arrow a safer place to live. At a news conference, QuikTrip representatives, including Broken Arrow Police Department Chief Brandon Berryhill and Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler, highlighted the impact of this commitment. The Real Time Information Center will function as a hub for crime prevention and response, leveraging live video feeds and various data sources to improve the effectiveness of emergency services, as reported by the City of Broken Arrow.
According to the City of Broken Arrow, which works to fund unmet needs of the police department, QuikTrip's donation is instrumental in completing financing required for the RTIC. "QuikTrip is a leader in supporting local law enforcement and investing in safer and stronger communities," said Police Chief Brandon Berryhill.
Not merely a passive donor, QuikTrip is often cited as a company that actively engages with the communities it serves. Since its inception in 1958, the Tulsa-based company has expanded to over 1,100 stores spanning 18 states, maintaining a tradition of donating 5% of net profits to community initiatives.
Emphasizing the strategic benefit of the RTIC, District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler conveyed that the center's advanced tech could significantly quicken response times and aid in securing more convictions. "The networking of available resources, together with the advancements in video technology, has enabled us to identify suspects and their cohorts in a matter of a few minutes, if not seconds," Kunzweiler told City of Broken Arrow's news release, asserting that such capabilities could potentially reduce crime and bring justice to many cases.
In addition to reinforcing law enforcement, the QuikTrip grant reflects a broader mission to tackle pressing societal challenges. “While we are proud to have been headquartered in Tulsa for more than six decades, our hometown is not immune to the serious challenges that cities are facing across the country,” QuikTrip Corporate Communications Manager Aisha Jefferson explained on the City of Broken Arrow official website, highlighting the company's ongoing commitment to community strength and safety.
