A cyclist in Roseville succumbed to injuries following a significant collision with a vehicle on Tuesday. The incident, which triggered an extensive shutdown of the area around Harding and Douglas Boulevards, led to the cyclist's death later that evening at a local hospital. FOX40 reported the roadway was closed for several hours as a result of the mishap.
Roseville Police Department's response was swift, arriving at the scene around 3:30 p.m. after being alerted to the major injury accident. The cyclist, identified as a male, was found to have sustained considerable injuries and was quickly transported to the hospital. However, despite the medical efforts, he failed to recover. The Sacramento Bee included a statement from Lt. Chris Ciampa, spokesperson for the Roseville Police, who confirmed, "The bicyclist was at fault for the collision."
Details about the crash are still under investigation, but authorities shared that the driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the ongoing investigation. The identity of the cyclist has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
"The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities," Ciampa was quoted saying to The Sacramento Bee. The Roseville community has been urged to expect some traffic delays and to seek alternative routes while the investigation continues to fully unfold the circumstances of the tragic event.
