On Wednesday, the U.S. Marshals Office announced the arrest of a 30-year-old Round Rock man in connection with a shooting incident that occurred last month. The suspect, identified as Jalen Levon Williams, was apprehended by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, KXAN reports.
According to the Round Rock Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting on September 25 in the 1300 block of Zephyr Lane, where they found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. The incident seemed, to stem from a "physical altercation" at the intersection of Southwestern Trail and Zephyr Lane, after which Williams allegedly left the scene in a vehicle, as stated in an affidavit obtained by KVUE.
Following the incident, a warrant for Williams was issued, prompting the involvement of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. The arrest operation culminated on October 16 when Williams was captured in the 9700 block of Brown Lane in Austin. He was taken to the Williamson County Jail to await further legal proceedings.
The U.S. Marshals Office's involvement emphasizes the coordinated efforts between local and federal agencies to apprehend suspects implicated in violent crimes. The victim, who was transported to a medical facility following the shooting is expected to recover.
