According to FOX40, the incident occurred on Grand Avenue near Mahogany Street; the Sacramento Police Department received reports of gunfire and arrived to find an injured man with a gunshot wound.
The unidentified man, believed to be the would-be burglar, was promptly taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, meanwhile the police have not taken the resident, who fired the gun into custody, this according to KCRA, police indicated that the shooter was detained briefly at the scene but cooperated fully with their investigation. The shooting, which took place around 9:19 a.m. near Grand Avenue and Pinell Street, put the neighborhood on alert as law enforcement and emergency services converged on the site.
Sacramento Police have not disclosed the motive behind the attempted break-in, nor have they released the names of either the shooter or the individual shot, as per FOX40.
