San Antonio was woken early Sunday to the echo of gunfire after a man was left dead in the aftermath of a confrontation that escalated to fatal levels. According to KSAT, police arrived at an after-hours business before 3 a.m. in the 3100 block of Mission Road to find the victim in a car with a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of the first responders, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation by the San Antonio Police Department revealed that the shooter defended themselves in response to the victim, who allegedly threatened violence while causing a disturbance in the parking lot, according to statements given to officers. Hanging out at the business indicated by the address, the victim was reportedly threatening to shoot people and tried to run over others with their vehicle when the shooter acted, as reported by Biloxi News Events.
According to the San Antonio Police Department Sergeant at the scene, the two individuals were spending time at the location of the incident when the victim initiated the disturbance. The shooter, who remained at the scene, cooperated with law enforcement, conveying a narrative of self-defense, a narrative that law enforcement is now dissecting for veracity, as per KSAT. The shooter has not yet been charged with a crime, but the San Antonio Police Department mentioned that charges may be forthcoming depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
