
Earier today, San Antonio Police apprehended 27-year-old Adrian David Arellano, wanted for striking an off-duty Bexar County sheriff's deputy with his car. The incident that took place earlier on October 3 involved the deputy being hit and then clinging to the roof of a moving vehicle outside St. Matthew Catholic School before falling and sustaining injuries, as reported by KSAT.
According to the San Antonio police, officers set up a perimeter around an apartment complex off West Rampart, anticipating Arellano's departure at which point he drove away with two other individuals but was stopped at the corner of San Pedro Avenue and Thames Drive and while the two individuals that were with Arellano at the time of his arrest were later released he was detained and sent to Bexar County Jail, this sequence of events unfolded at about 3:30 a.m. KENS 5 details that a concerned parent initially halted Arellano's progress during the October 3 event by blocking his SUV outside the school, resulting in the deputy's fall.
The deputy suffered a broken foot and head injuries after falling from the top of the car when Arellano eventually stopped the vehicle; Bexar County Sheriff's Office mentioned a witness's attempt to intervene by positioning their vehicle in front of Arellano's in a bid to prevent further movement. Post the incident, Arellano reportedly abandoned the car at a nearby complex, scaled a fence, and was later seen changing clothes at a Motel 6 before vanishing once again.
Surveillance footage proved instrumental in tracking Arellano, leading to his apprehension and subsequent charges which include collision involving serious bodily injury and aggravated assault against a public servant, San Antonio police, they gained insight into Arellano's location and managed to arrest him along with two others who were later released after their car was halted and its occupants detained; Bexar County Sheriff's Office will be conducting further interviews once Arellano is processed in jail.
