Following a fatal shooting at the Victorville Galleria Mall earlier this month, a 34-year-old suspect, Harold Phillips from San Bernardino County, has been apprehended. According to KTLA, Phillips was involved in a physical altercation with 51-year-old Guy Taylor, also a Victorville resident, which escalated to the shooting.
On the afternoon of October 6, deputies responded to a report of gunfire at the mall at 14560 Palmdale Road, as per KTLA. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department stated that Taylor was found with gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving attempts by first responders, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Further details on the incident are not immediately clear, while an investigation into what led to the altercation is ongoing. Meanwhile, the suspect had evaded capture at the time, fleeing before deputies arrived at the mall.
The manhunt for Phillips culminated two weeks later when the United States Marshals Service apprehended him without incident in San Jose. San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reports that Phillips was initially booked at the Santa Clara County Jail and is now being held at the West Valley Detention Center without bail.
