This morning, the San Francisco Fire Department tackled a blaze at 1382 Sanchez Street that escalated to a 2-alarm fire. According to a social media post from the San Francisco Fire Department, the fire, now contained, had 70 firefighters on the scene, managing to prevent the spread to adjacent homes.
The fire, initially reported at 2:30 a.m., was battled by crews arriving to find the second floor of a three-story home engulfed in flames. A complicating factor in the firefighting efforts was a live electrical wire falling on the first arriving truck company. PG&E responded promptly to de-energize the hazardous live wire, and no injuries were reported as the occupants self-evacuated. "Thank you, @PGE4Me, for the fast response to de-energize the wire and our crews that recognized the hazard," said the San Francisco Fire Department's post.
Despite the potential for greater destruction, the fire was contained to just one home with two units by 03:02 AM. Three adults and two children have been displaced by the incident, and the Red Cross of Northern California is currently providing assistance. The fire department has concluded that the cause of the fire was accidental/electrical.
