On the evening of Thursday, October 24, the quiet of San Jacinto was shattered by a hit-and-run incident that left a pedestrian critically injured. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office reported that at 7:29 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the scene on Midway Street, west of San Jacinto Avenue, after receiving reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive male with substantial injuries along the roadside, who was then quickly transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators have pieced together that the victim was walking westbound on the shoulder when he was hit by a vehicle, which was also heading westward. The driver involved did not stop to render aid and chose to instead quickly flee the scene, last seen turning onto Santa Fe Avenue, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. The specifics regarding the make and color of the vehicle remain elusive, creating a hurdle for deputies in their pursuit to bring closure to this case. They believe, however, that it was a smaller passenger-type vehicle.
