The San Marcos community is reeling after a recent weapons arrest at Connors Park. San Diego County Sheriff's deputies apprehended Juan Beltran yesterday following reports of a public disturbance. The man was found with a loaded, non-serialized firearm—a so-called 'ghost gun'—hidden in his fanny pack. Authorities made the arrest just after 11 a.m. at the park, located in the 300 block of West San Marcos Boulevard, as per the information released by the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
The situation began with a heated verbal exchange involving Beltran and his girlfriend. During their investigation, the deputies encountered an illegal weapon in Beltran's possession. According to an announcement from the Sheriff's Office, ghost guns lack serial numbers, complicating the task for law enforcement to trace ownership and hampering criminal investigations.
Alongside the ghost gun, deputies found two methamphetamine glass pipes and a small clear baggie containing a rock substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, in the same fanny pack. Following these discoveries, Beltran, whose date of birth was listed as October 3, 1987, was arrested.
Beltran now faces charges related to the possession of illegal firearms and drugs. He was subsequently booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
