West Harbor, a burgeoning entertainment, shopping, and dining complex in San Pedro, is raising the anticipation bar with its latest announcement. A new phase featuring Southern California's tallest coastal observation wheel. The West Harbor Wheel, expected to reach heights of 100 to 150 feet, will offer visitors enclosed gondolas for panoramic views of the port, battleship USS Iowa, and the Pacific Ocean, as reported by FOXLA.
The amusement park will also include a seaside carousel and other rides, adding to the existing tenant mix that includes Bark Social and Harbor Breeze Cruises, while new tenants like a King of Padel pickleball club and a San Pedro Fish Market location are set to enhance the complex, following the completion of Building A, a milestone in the project's Phase 1 construction. Building B is currently underway with its completion eyed for 2025, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
The advancement includes an array of attractions like a wave swinger, several carnival rides operated by SkyView Partners, and a collection of phase two tenants featuring eateries and pop-up concepts, says Urbanize LA. The San Pedro Fish Market, a major revenue generator, is also planning expansions within West Harbor, abandoning a proposed $140 million complex for a more integrated presence in the area.
Along with entertainment strides being made an array of outdoor courts for pickleball and padel will invite active engagement from the public, managed by the King of Padel, which also organizes events and is part of a series of food and recreation-focused improvements emblematic of the San Pedro waterfront's renewal, Todd Schneider of SkyView Partners articulated excitement for the project via FOXLA, stating, "The West Harbor Wheel and park will become an iconic feature of the West Harbor project," underscoring a commitment to a wide range of visitor-serving attractions.
