A Sanford man has been taken into custody after a domestic violence incident escalated into violence against a responding police officer. The altercation took place on the evening of last Wednesday, around 9:40 p.m., near Landing Drive, where police encountered a woman who alleged that 18-year-old Brandon Legere had assaulted her multiple times. According to FOX35 Orlando, the suspect is said to have initiated the attack after a confrontation with the victim's mother, with subsequent aggression resulting in the victim being dragged and beaten from the living room to the bedroom.
Officers reportedly contacted Legere, leading to a confrontation captured on bodycam footage. During this encounter, Legere attempted to choke one of the officers before he was subdued with the help of a Taser. The Sanford Police Department has charged Legere with multiple offenses—including battery, resisting an officer with violence, and attempted homicide while resisting an officer.
Further details revealed by WESH provide additional context to the events. Elise Aull, identified as the victim, opened the door to the responding officers with visible injuries. The report relays that the dispute originated from an altercation involving Aull's mother and Legere. Upon his return to the residence during the police investigation, Legere dismissed commands from the officers, resulting in the attempted strangulation of an officer. Body camera footage obtained showed the violent confrontation and the subsequent use of a Taser to subdue Legere. He has been charged with one count of attempted homicide murder while engaging in resisting an officer with violence, one count of battery touch or strike - domestic violence battery, and one count of resisting an officer with violence. Legere is currently held at no bond.
