The landscape for electric vehicle (EV) owners in Southern California leaped forward this Tuesday as Rove unveiled its first full-service EV charging center in Santa Ana, setting a new benchmark in the realm of public EV charging facilities. As reported by CBS News Los Angeles, this one-stop destination located at 1008 E. 17th Street features 40 fast chargers capable of servicing more than 1,000 EVs per day.
Rove's innovative approach to EV charging includes facilities such as a Gelson mini-market, a 24/7 indoor lounge with complimentary Wi-Fi, clean restrooms, security at night, and even a car wash. Chairman and CEO of Rove, Bill Reid, described the project as aiming "to create more than just a charging station," adding, "we designed a community destination, a place where our customers would feel at ease and supported," according to a CBS News Los Angeles interview.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Santa Ana's Mayor Valerie Amezcua, representatives from the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, and other state leaders, Rove emphasized its commitment to bettering the charging experience for EV drivers in the heart of California's EV revolution. In a statement obtained by PR Newswire, Rove's partnership with Gelson's will extend to more locations, with President & CEO Ryan Adams expressing excitement over "giving customers more ways to access the quality products and customer service they've come to expect from Gelson's across Southern California."
The company seeks to not just expand its footprint but to fundamentally enhance the EV charging experience. They also simultaneously launched an intuitive mobile app designed to easily track charging sessions, check real-time charger availability, place mobile orders at the ReCharge by Gelson's market, and manage car wash vouchers. Rove has plans to open another ten centers across Southern California by 2026, with locations including Costa Mesa, Long Beach, and Torrance, as per NBC Los Angeles.
