Last night, the Santa Rosa Police Department disclosed an unexpected find during a mundane traffic stop on Occidental Rd. and Brittain Lane. Law enforcement sources informed us that they arrested Mario Beltran Granados, 39, after stopping his vehicle over expired registration tabs and spotting an assault rifle lying in plain view on the car's floorboard. The weapon, it turns out, was both unserialized and unregistered, which compounds the gravity of the discovery.
The traffic patrol, happening around 11:30 pm, led to more than just a ticket for dated vehicle paperwork; a probable cause search of Granados's vehicle unearthed five (30) round magazines and 40 rounds of ammunition. Granados, a resident of Santa Rosa, now faces charges related to unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of an assault weapon, handling that the gravity of the situation dawns slowly but undeniably on the community at large.
As detailed by the Santa Rosa Police Department, case number 24-11590, Granados was booked into Sonoma County Jail on serious firearms charges.
