
During a routine traffic stop yesterday evening, officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department discovered a loaded firearm within the confines of a vehicle. The stop, as reported by a social media post from the Santa Rosa Police, was conducted for several moving violations and led to the arrest of 19-year-old Tyler Mack on firearm possession charges.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:40 pm, with members of the Santa Rosa Police's Special Enforcement Team (SET) initiating the stop. An open container of alcohol first caught the officers' attention before a search of the vehicle uncovered a 9mm handgun. The Santa Rosa PD's SET is part of an effort to curb the upswing in gun violence and illegal firearm possession in the area.
"The driver was identified as 19-year-old Tyler Mack. He was arrested for the following charges: 25400(a)(2) PC: Possession of a concealed firearm in public. 25850(a) PC: Possession of a loaded firearm in public," detailed the Santa Rosa PD in their social media briefing.
