A school bus accident occurred in Sarasota on Thursday morning, caused by effects of Hurricane Milton. According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, reported by WFLA, the incident happened around 8:33 a.m. as the bus was traveling north on Aquila Street and preparing to turn left onto Adriatic Street. The driver encountered a stop sign, which had been knocked loose by the hurricane's impact. The collision damaged six windows of the bus.
Debris from the storm poses risks for daily commutes and school trips. Authorities are investigating the crash, which did not result in any injuries. "Neither the driver nor the passenger was injured in the crash," as FOX 13 News stated, sparing the community from personal tragedy while they recover from the broader storm's havoc.
The bus had a student and a school employee, both unharmed. Authorities informed the student's parent about the incident to keep them updated. This incident shows the need for quick cleanups and repairs on public roads to prevent more accidents, per information provided by WTSP.
