Seattle's Mayor Bruce Harrell is on the lookout for some key players to join the city's Design Commission, matchmaking urban planners and at-large members with a mission to raise the bar on public projects. Those answering the call will be part of molding the look and feel of the city's parks, community centers, and beyond. This isn't your average civic duty gig. You'll need some experience under your belt specifically in publicly funded development, policy, or scheming out plans, as reported by the Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections.
The Seattle Design Commission isn't new to the game, having been established back in 1968, it's been the city's go-to for design wisdom and oversight on city-funded projects. According to their website, they play a critical role in advising officials, including the Mayor, City Council, and various city departments on projects or policies that shape Seattle’s open spaces and essential services. Those fortunate enough to land a spot on the Commission get to be part of a 10-member team, all pros in their own right, from architects to engineers, and designers.
Resumes and letters of interest are due by November 22. For all the details, and where to submit your application, visit their announcement.
