The Seattle Office of Labor Standards (OLS) is inviting proposals to educate domestic worker hiring entities about labor laws. A total of $60,000 has been allocated for this initiative, which aims to raise awareness of employers' obligations under the Domestic Worker Ordinance and the Paid Sick and Safe Time Ordinance, as well as other relevant labor laws, according to the press release by the City of Seattle.
This move comes after the Domestic Workers Standards Board (DWSB) and Domestic Workers Coalition pushed for better conditions for domestic workers, leading to the allocation of these funds. The OLS highlights that this is a one-time funding opportunity and is seeking a local organization to take on this six-month contract, starting from December 2024. Nonetheless, the intricacies of labor law require careful dissemination to ensure that employers fully understand their responsibilities.
Those interested in submitting a proposal can find details on the OLS website, with the full Request for Proposal and application requirements laid out. Also on offer is an optional information session on Tuesday next week at 11:00 a.m. for potential applicants to get a better understanding of the work. The session aims to ensure that proposals align with the goals of the program and are practical in approach.
Application submissions are due by October 25 at 5:00 p.m., and must be emailed to [email protected].
