Authorities have apprehended a second teenage suspect in connection with the shooting death of 26-year-old Kendrick McLellan, whose body was found earlier this month in a vehicle in Columbia. As reported by Howard County, the latest arrest, a 14-year-old from Severn, was made at his high school in Anne Arundel County.
The case, which first came to light last Saturday when officers found McLellan with multiple gunshot wounds, took a significant turn with the arrest of a 17-year-old Ellicott City student three days prior, the juvenile who also had a gun in his possession at Howard High School and was, astonishingly, still under the watch of the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services due to a prior incident in yet another jurisdiction. Both teenagers are now facing first-degree murder, among other grave charges, and they remain in the Howard County Detention Center without the option of bond.
Authorities discovered McLellan's body during early morning area checks. Detectives have since pieced together that the fatal shooting occurred last Wednesday in the very parking lot where the grim discovery was made. While the victim and at least one of the suspects are believed to have known each other, the precise motive behind this act remains shrouded in investigation.
