In a bid to enhance digital connectivity in rural parts of St. Louis County, Senator Grant Hauschild has announced a sizable grant aimed at expanding broadband services. The $3.9 million Border-to-Border Broadband Grant, as confirmed by the Minnesota Senate DFL, has been awarded to Paul Bunyan Communications. The primary objective of this grant is to facilitate the spread of high-speed internet access which is becoming increasingly pivotal in modern living.
These funds are part-contributory to a larger investment, which totals $6 million by Paul Bunyan Communications for the Northwest St. Louis County GigaZone Expansion project. This project, once in full swing, will ensure that an additional 420 locations in the region have access to reliable broadband. It comes from the Border-to-Border Broadband Low-Population Density Program, focused on pushing access in areas where internet options are limited or non-existent. "Reliable high-speed internet isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity," said Sen. Hauschild, as reported by Minnesota Senate DFL. He added, "That’s why I’ve fought for funding that make projects like this possible in our communities."
This grant award to Paul Bunyan Communications is a reflection of the continuing push to improve infrastructure, ensuring that all residents, regardless of their geographic location, can partake in a digitally inclusive society.
