In a sobering development from the University of Tampa, 19-year-old Brianna Moore has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of her infant child, whose body was discovered on campus in April. According to Tampa Police, Moore, identified as a white female born on March 28, 2005, was apprehended by the US Marshals Task Force in partnership with local law enforcement.
The circumstances came to light after campus safety was alerted about a potential miscarriage at the university, which led to a more harrowing find; the subsequent investigation directed to the unearthing of the deceased infant, who was identified as Moore's child, a particular sequence of events unraveling a narrative of loss and alleged criminal conduct. The medical examination revealed the cause of death as asphyxia alongside multiple rib fractures, thus leading the medical examiner to rule the death a homicide.
Moore is now facing serious charges including Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child, Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm, Failure to Report Death, and Unlawful Storage of Human Remains. She was arrested in Quitman, Mississippi, and is being held at Lauderdale County Jail while she awaits extradition back to Tampa.
