Minneapolis seniors and caregivers, take note: The South Minneapolis Seniors Fair is slated for this Wednesday, October 23. The event will take place at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, offering a full day of resources and workshops from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., spanning topics pertinent to the elder community.
The fair, a cooperative effort by local Council Members Jenkins and Koski, includes a morning and afternoon filled with educational opportunities. Alongside, attendees will be provided with a complimentary light breakfast and lunch, ensuring they have the sustenance to fully engage in the day's activities. As stated in a bulletin released by the organizers, a key feature of the fair is increasing accessibility, with transit vouchers available upon request via the Ward 11 office.
Outreach attempts have not been spared, with representatives visiting local senior living communities—Becketwood, Nokomis Square, and Standish Green Condominiums—to personally invite residents. The fair paints itself as a pivotal gathering spot for the senior members of the community, their caregivers, and even neighbors who recognize the value of such community-centered efforts.
For those unable to attend, anticipation remains high for upcoming communications, with promises of a newsletter containing policy, city, and community updates later this week, suggesting ongoing engagement and information sharing.
