Furthermore, a 27-year-old woman in the parked vehicle was transported to a local hospital in serious condition after the crash speeding down the eastbound lane caused the driver to travel into the opposite lane, as reported by Hawaii News Now. A 28-year-old man, also in the parked vehicle at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries and refused further medical treatment. Speed is considered a contributing factor to the accident, whereas the use of alcohol and drugs were ruled out. Details around the investigation are still developing.
Additional coverage from KITV revealed conflicting details about the passengers in the parked car, indicating that the woman hospitalized was 26 years old. They confirmed the three hospitalizations following the accident and reiterated that the driver's passenger, the 34-year-old woman, was wearing her seat belt at the time she was critically injured, unlike the driver himself.
