Today marks the end of inconveniences for drivers and bus riders along Spring Garden Road in Reserve, as the Department of Public Works has officially reopened the traffic road. The necessary closure, which began back on August 12, had cut off a segment of the route between Beech Street and Williams Road for infrastructure upgrades. According to Allegheny County, to quickly and effectively relay the news, the Department highlighted the completion of essential work, including the installation of four new inlets, drainage pipe, and a concrete curb, as well as repairs to an existing inlet and the repaving and restriping of the road.
Diligent commuters had to adjust their routines to navigate the nearly two-month-long closure, which affected an average of 1,960 drivers daily. In response, Pittsburgh Regional Transit rerouted its 7-Spring Garden bus line and temporarily disabled 23 stops. With roadblocks cleared and services restored, the bus stops will resume activity this afternoon.
