Early yesterday morning, Springfield Police Department took 47-year-old Jeremiah Cruz into custody following the seizure of a loaded, untraceable firearm, locally known as a Ghost Gun. According to the official police report, the arrest occurred at around 12:35 a.m. on the 500 block of Worthington Street after officers responded swiftly to a gun call.
Matching the provided description of a suspect, officers managed to quickly locate Cruz and found the gun well-concealed yet readily accessible, tucked into his waistband. The SPD has been working tirelessly to combat the proliferation of such firearms; this year alone, they have managed to seize more than 270 illegal weapons, 15 of which are Ghost Guns, guns that are assembled from parts to be essentially untraceable.
Following the arrest, Cruz now faces serious charges for his actions. He has been charged with "Carrying a Firearm without a License" and "Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License," as reported by the Springfield Police Department.
