The St. Paul Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is set to hold a public hearing, the order of the agenda is yet to be decided upon by the board at the start of the hearing, as detailed in a recent notice which informed applicants of the importance of their presence to field possible questions from the Board or the public. The Board of Zoning Appeals has laid out its agenda—comprising of approvals, new business items including several requests for major variances, as well as a possible conclusion without any old business to address.
Among the matters up for discussion is an application from Leah L. Robey for permission to exceed the height restriction for a new garage on Cumberland Street, pushing past the zoned 18 feet to 21 feet. Another case involves Ammar Khaleel's proposal to adorn his Robert Street South property with signage that tips the scales at nearly twice the allowable square footage, setting a heavy case before the Board of Zoning Appeals for consideration. Public comments on these and other items can be sent to [email protected], with a submission deadline that ensures their review is set for 2:00 p.m. on October 11, as detailed by the Board of Zoning Appeals.
On University Ave West, Karen Nancekivell seeks two variances. One to obscure window transparency contrary to what current regulations state for the neighborhood, and another to substantially increase her business's signage footprint. Meanwhile, communal living in Goodrich Avenue could get a little tighter if Scott Meier and Dawn Wagenaar are permitted to bypass the 150-foot gap mandated between student housing.
