A Sumner County caregiver has found himself on the other side of the law after being charged with the sexual assault and neglect of a vulnerable adult. WSMV reports that Boris Whitworth, who was employed as a caregiver during the time of the alleged incident, faces two counts of aggravated rape, one count of neglect of a vulnerable adult, and the sexual exploitation of a vulnerable adult. This case came to light in June 2024 when the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) began looking into the allegations.
Pursuant to the inquiries, the TBI found that the victim, a 35-year-old with vulnerability splattered across their circumstance, was admitted to Sumner Regional Medical Center, revealing injuries consistent with assault. Later, the victim was transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for further medical attention. Yet directly according to the TBI, no additional details about this case have been unfolded to the public.
Sealed with the weight of his charge, on September 4th, Whitworth, aged 69, was arrested and confined to Sumner County Jail with a bond set at $300,000. The information regarding his bond was released publicly by the WKRN news channel, which covered the incident upon the release of these details.
While the details surrounding the event remain sparse, the TBI has confirmed via their Facebook page that an investigation did indeed occur into the matters concerning the alleged assault and neglect by Whitworth.
