A man has been charged following a family argument that turned violent, culminating in a shooting yesterday morning in Houston. Edward Charles Taylor, 58, is wanted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident at 8018 Colonial Lane, as confirmed by HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division.
The confrontation occurred around 5:50 a.m., where a 69-year-old man was shot in the right leg and later transported to an area hospital for treatment. According to the Houston Police Department, a witness reported that the victim and the suspect, both reported as family members, engaged in a heated argument. Edward Taylor allegedly escalated the altercation by pulling out a gun and shooting the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim's condition has not been disclosed as of now.
Investigators responded to the scene following a dispatch call and are actively searching for Taylor, who remains at large. A previous photo of Taylor was released along with the news statement. The Harris County District Attorney's Office has since accepted the charges against Taylor, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. "Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the residence at the above address and learned a man was shot and transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to his right leg," said Detective J. Chavez in a statement obtained by City of Houston News.
