A man was arrested in Cleveland yesterday following a standoff with police in the city's Jefferson neighborhood involving a possible suspect from a shooting incident that included a police officer, as FOX8 reported. The Cleveland Division of Police responded to the 3200 block of West 131st Street, where the incident took place, and the area was cleared with a suspect in custody, police confirmed in an email to WKYC last night.
Earlier, the police had surveilled the area as part of their investigation into "several violent crimes," according to a statement given by Police Chief Dorothy Todd, when they encountered suspects resulting in an exchange of gunfire. In this confrontation, one suspect was struck and later detained. The Chief said, as reported by FOX8, four officers returned fire, and one suspect was taken to the hospital. Still, no officers were hurt, and this followed a public warning advising the community to avoid the area until it was resolved.
The standoff's resolution led to the arrest of one man, details of which are still emerging, with the help of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department and additional support from the U.S. Marshals, as mentioned in a Cleveland19 article.
