Late Wednesday night, a stabbing at the Trails at Hunters Village Apartments in Tampa prompted an urgent response from the Tampa Police. An adult female was found at the scene with multiple stab wounds and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital in a trauma alert due to significant blood loss, according to the City of Tampa. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, is now in stable condition following the incident.
Tampa Police and the US Marshals Task Force focused on 31-year-old Thomas Sapp, who was known to the victim. Sapp was last seen on County Line Rd over I275 just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Officers tried to stop traffic to prevent further escalation, but before they could safely approach him, Sapp jumped off the overpass, landing on I-275. He was fortunate to survive the fall without being hit by oncoming traffic, including a semi-truck, as reported by the City of Tampa.
Sapp now faces an attempted murder charge after injuring himself in a jump during the assault. Like the stabbing victim, he is listed in stable condition at a hospital where he is receiving treatment, as mentioned by the City of Tampa.
